<em>Basketball: </em>Richmond Tops St. Joe's, 69-54

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Kevin Anderson scored 22 points and Richmond used a big second-half run to pull away from the St. Joe's Hawks, 69-54, on Wednesday night.

The Spiders (23-7, 12-3 Atlantic 10 Conference) led 40-39 with 10:20 left to play before going on a 29-13 run to take a 69-52 lead with 1:49 to go. Richmond shot 5 for 5 from beyond the arc during that run.

Justin Harper added 16 points, Dan Geriot had 14, and Darien Brothers 10 for the Spiders, who shot 16 for 29 from the floor (55.2 percent) in the second half.

The Hawks (8-21, 3-12) shot 4 for 13 from the field over the final 10 minutes and finished 3 of 16 from 3-point range (18.8 percent) overall.

Carl Jones scored 18 points and Ronald Roberts had 10 for St. Joe's, which has lost four of its last five contests.

Richmond led 20-19 at halftime and outscored the Hawks 49-35 in the second half.

St. Joseph's heads into a showdown at Charlotte on Saturday, with the teams playing for the final spot in next week's Atlantic 10 Tournament. The winner will take 12th place with the loser failing to qualify for the tournament.
