Montgomery County Non-Profit Hosts Fundraiser For Children Suffering From Abuse

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Montgomery County child advocacy center is gearing up for its big fundraiser in April to raise money for young victims of abuse.

Mission Kids says invitations are in the mail for their annual fundraising event, Mission Possible. The benefit aids Montgomery County children who have suffered physical or sexual abuse.

The non-profit was established just a year and a half ago and has already helped over 400 children safely share their story.

Executive Director Abbie Newman says they need support to keep their organization running. "We're not part of the county or any other agency and so we live by our donations. So really the best help we can get from the community is to educate everybody about child abuse and if anybody is able to give us donations," said Newman, "they are all greatly appreciated."

Mission Kids coordinates all of the agencies involved in child abuse investigations, allowing the child to tell their story just once in a kid-friendly atmosphere.

The event will be held April 14th in Lower Merion. For more information, go to missionkidscac.org.
