American Theater Arts For Youth Presents Pippi Longstocking At The Kimmel

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - American Theater Arts for Youth brings Pippi Longstocking to life for a musical production at The Kimmel Center.

Troupe Founder Laurie Wagman says most people know who Pippi was but offers a reminder if you forgot:

"It's about a nine-year-old girl with red hair who lives by herself with a horse and a monkey and who happens to be the strongest, most outrageous girl in the world; that's Pippi Longstocking."

Wagman says Pippi's story is one that inspires children of all ages. She cites the lyrics to a popular song in the musical. "I could be someone special. It's no mystery, just find your strength from within and stand up for something you believe in."

The show runs at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Pearlman Theater at the Kimmel Center on Saturday March 5th.
