Accused Duct-Taping Mom Released On Bail

MEDIA, Pa (CBS) - The Delaware County woman accused of duct-taping her daughter to a chair was released on bail. The charges against her include endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful restraint and false imprisonment.

During an appearance at the Media courthouse, defense lawyer Vicki Herr and the District Attorney's office worked out final details on conditions of bail.

The parents of Caira Ferguson, 21, put up 10 percent of the $25,000 bail that was set and Ferguson will be on electronic monitoring. She will also be required to take parenting classes, although Herr points out the evaluation turned up no evidence of mental health, drug, alcohol or anger management issues.

Ferguson was arrested earlier this month after an image of her duct-taped two-and-a-half year old daughter appeared online.

Ferguson, who had no prior criminal record, was ordered to have no direct contact with her daughter, unless the county's children and youth services was present. Herr says while the girl is in the supervision of CYS, the child is living with her godmother.

Ferguson's preliminary hearing is scheduled for next week.
