PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – WPHT’s Dom Giordano held a “Call to Action: Congressional Town Hall Meeting” last night at the National Constitution Center.
Congressmen Pat Meehan, Michael Fitzpatrick, Jim Gerlach, Jon Runyan and Chaka Fattah attended the event to talk about issues important to the lawmakers and their constituents, and to Dom Giordano.
On bipartisanship, Meehan said making friends across the aisle is part of the job, “You don’t have a lot of socializing time but with that said, I think you do develop relationships, with your colleagues across the aisle, particularly on committees.”
Runyan talked about the ongoing budget process, “We started dealing with the problems of the last Congress, and the fact that they have not passed a budget. That’s why this continuing resolution was on the table, that’s why this debate took place. I think what we’re seeing here the real spending cuts are going to be in this fiscal year 2012 budget.”
The congress members also talked about the sacrifices that lawmakers must make in order to get the job done.
