Pennsylvania Academy Of The Fine Arts Presents <i>Anatomy/Academy</i>

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia's art and science schools have always been on the cutting edge of innovation.

"Anatomy/Academy" at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts shows exactly how closely related those fields are.

"We call attention to the scientific nature of what is always thought of as works of high, fine art."

Curator Anna Marley says the exhibit features artwork which doctors used to educate students.

"(They use) large scale anatomical sculptures from 1800. A fully, complete human nervous system mounted on a black board. What looks like an abstract piece of art is actually a very, very scientifically innovative, scientific preparation."

The exhibit runs until April 17th.
