3 Males, 17-Year-Old Girl Arrested In Delaware Home Invasion

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – Police in Delaware arrested four suspects, including a 17-year-old girl, in connection to an armed drug-related home invasion.

James Elliot, 19; James Zimkowski, 18; Joseph Murach, 22; and a 17-year-old female are all facing charges in connection to the February 15th incident.

The robbery happened at about 8 p.m. at an apartment in the 500 building of the University Courtyard Apartments.

The incident began when a resident at the apartment answered a knock at the door. Upon answering the door, he was confronted by three masked male suspects, one armed with a baseball bat and another armed with a handgun.

The victim was then struck with the bat and a struggle ensued with two of the suspects while the third suspect held the other five occupants of the apartment at gunpoint.

The suspects demanded cash and a safe from the victim.

During the struggle, the victim removed the mask of one of the suspects and recognized him as an acquaintance.

Following an investigation, detectives were able to identify and arrest the three male suspects, along with the 17-year-old, who was the get-away driver. Investigators recovered the weapons used in the robbery along with the stolen safe.

The victim was treated for a broken orbital socket at Christiana Hospital.

The investigation confirmed that illegal drug activity was conducted at the apartment and investigators believe the suspects were searching for drugs and/or drug proceeds.

All four suspects have been charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony, 6 counts Aggravated Menacing and Wearing a Disguise During Commission of a Felony Conspiracy 2nd.

All three male suspects are being held at the Howard Young Correctional facility on $112,000 cash bail. The female suspect is being held at the New Castle County Detention Center on $68,000 bail.

I am so sorry for the families of these boys. My heart goes out to the Elliot family. (James…I could kick your ass…you freakin’ punk. You had nothing but the most caring and loving environment to grow up in….and you chose so poorly. What you must be putting your family through…. We all make mistakes, but man, this was a conscious choice to pursue a lifestyle that you know is wicked and will bring you heart-ache, and it is.) To my friend John, Sr….praying for you buddy and all your fam. Keep your head up. Miss seeing you.

Here’s a James Zimkowski blog entry from 2008:

    My Dream

Truely My Dream Is alot to ask for if you already have been given alot in the past. But Here it is. I go to bed thinking of each day the faults I Make and how I could of changed them. Then I think of how I change that bad feeling to angry or an energy when I play soccer. Soccer Is one of the main reasons I live. I’ve been playing since I was 5. Since then I’ve played in almost every league that I could be Tried in For. Well Hopefully I can Become Good Enough to play Professionally. Then If I can do that I still won’t stop until I can go International then make alot of money. That’s my dream. And 3 years ago from 16 I started to train and really focus down. Finally I become what my mind has set for me…. I’ll repay the people who made it happen.

These morons have no idea what they’re in for. As adults, they’re going to jail for a long time. The inmates love to get young white boys as friends, and I don’t mean on Facebook. The female will probably get probation or a short incarceration as a juvenile. What idiots!

The victim was obviously a drug dealer…I wonder if he got charged with possession and intent to sell? The suspects probably thought that the victim would never call the police for this exact reason. Glad he did though!

I wished they would have come to my house, they would all be dead!

you are not safe even in your own home. locked them up, throw away the key, these people will always follow the road of crime, there is no rehabbing them. i am surprised that the girl doesn’t have the same bail demands. why just the get away driver?
