Police Seeking Suspect In Murder Outside Daycare

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The stop on Wadsworth Avenue should have only taken a few minutes, but that is all the time it took to turn the street into a crime scene.

Police say a gunman started shooting into a teal Pontiac Grand Prix at 8:30 Thursday morning, shattering the windows, and killing the man inside.

Family members identified the victim as Epharant Epperson. They say he was dropping his son off at Agape Baptist Church Daycare.

Epperson's family says he was with his fiancée at the time of the shooting. They say she is shaken up, but otherwise okay.

Police arrested a suspect a few minutes later near the crime scene. Eyewitness News has learned he was not involved with the shooting and released. Police are still looking for the gunman.

Epperson's father came to the daycare to pick up his grandson. The young boy had been inside all morning and didn't know his father had been killed outside.
