Delaware Woman Hangs Onto Car Hood As Vehicle Is Stolen From Gas Station

DELAWARE CITY, Del. (AP) - New Castle County Police say a woman jumped onto the hood of her car as it was being stolen and hung onto it for a few blocks before she was thrown off.

It happened Sunday about 3:10 p.m. at a gas station in Delaware City. Police say the woman left the car running and went into the gas station when a man got into the car.

Officers say as the suspect was driving away, the woman jumped onto the hood of her car, but was thrown from it a few blocks from the gas station. She got cuts on her hands, knees and elbow.

An off-duty detective saw the stolen car and arrested 22-year-old Brian Slutz of Delaware City. He is charged with carjacking and other offenses. He is being held on $32,500 secured bond.
