Del. Woman Charged With Striking Parking Officer With Vehicle

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) - Police in Delaware arrested a driver after she allegedly struck a parking enforcement officer with her vehicle while fleeing to avoid receiving a parking ticket.

Innocence Bello, 33, was taken into custody after the incident on Friday night on East Main Street in Newark.

According to police, the parking enforcement officer was attempting to issue a parking summons on a vehicle when Bello entered the vehicle and attempted to flee the area.

The parking enforcement officer, who was standing at the driver's door, jumped back into the traffic lane to avoid being struck by the vehicle. Police say Bello then drove her vehicle towards the parking enforcement officer, brushing him with the driver's side of the vehicle as she fled.

Bello was stopped a block away by officers.

The parking enforcement officer was uninjured during the incident.

Bello has been charged with Reckless Endangering 1st Degree, Poss. of Deadly Weapon During Commission of Felony (Vehicle as weapon), Failure to Signal Turning Movements and Failure to Display License Plate.

She is being held at the Baylor Womens Correctional Facility after failing to post a $12,000 secured bond.
