Study: Green Tea Expands Arteries

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Good news for those of you who are green tea fans out there. There has been added support to a study from Greece which suggested that drinking green tea can expand arteries.

In the study, researchers found that expansion of the brachial artery, located in the upper arm, increased by almost five percent 30 minutes after green tea, but not after drinking caffeine or hot water. Improved dilation in arteries is linked to better cardiovascular health.

Of course when you hear these studies you have to realize that it is only one small part of an approach to overall good health. One or two cups of green tea in and of themselves is not the answer, but if you add green tea and subtract something unhealthy it starts to have an effect. Little steps become big ones.
