Del. Man Arrested After Violent Motel Room Assault

NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS) - Delaware State Police arrested a man after the alleged violent assault of his girlfriend inside a hotel Sunday evening.

Brian Braxton, 48, is facing numerous charges after his arrest at the Budget Motel located on Memorial Drive in New Castle.

Officers were called to the motel at about 7:30 p.m. for reports of a disturbance and screams coming from inside one of the rooms.

Upon knocking on the door, Braxton opened a curtain and looked out of the window of the room. Troopers could then see a female on the floor of the room crying and yelling for help.

Officers then ordered Braxton to open the door and after complying, he was taken into custody.

Troopers later learned that Braxton had struck the victim several times throughout the evening and when she attempted to call police, he pulled the telephone cord out of the wall and then choked her with it.

The 26-year-old victim suffered injuries, but she refused medical treatment.

Braxton was charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Mischief.

He is being held in prison after failing to post $8,750 bail.
