Brandywine Area Hotels Toot Own Horn

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A group representing some suburban hotels is beginning an ad campaign to lure guests away from Center City.

"You can stay and still go to Philly. We're less taxing and more relaxing," says Tore Fiori, executive director of the Brandywine Convention and Visitors Bureau.

He says his group is embarking on a campaign, not to secede from the umbrella group representing all hotels in the region, but to shine a spotlight that so often otherwise focuses on Center City.

Ed Grose, executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association, believes this is the first time a sub-group has gone solo on promotion, but says with the Convention Center expansion almost done and other new attractions open, tourism will benefit.

"It just shows that a healthy Center City market will help the entire region."

Fiori says the ads will begin slowly, almost subtly shortly, and be going strong in April.>
