Local Non-Profit Hosts Conference For Women At Moore College Of Art

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A Women and Influence conference got underway at Moore College of Art and Design.

The conference was organized by Women's Way. "Women's Way is an advocacy organization that provides funding to women's organizations in the Philadelphia region," said Lucy Edwards (photo, right), an intern with the organization."

She explains the Women and Influence conference was the 8th annual conference of its kind. "So we brought women in, about 200 women from all over the city, and taught them how to advocate for causes that they care about."

They touched on a variety of topics, adds Edwards:

"For example, some people are interested in fighting sex trafficking and we had a specific workshop that taught people to identify victims of sex trafficking and how to help them. We also had workshops that would apply to anyone, such as how to use social media to support your cause."
