PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Jeff Townes, also known as DJ Jazzy Jeff, is a world renowned DJ and producer who has represented his hometown of Philadelphia in almost everything he does.

“I think Philadelphia has just been so much of a part of who I am that it just comes out,” he told KYW Newsradio recently.

His production company, called “A Touch of Jazz,” has become the hotbed of the Philadelphia soul movement which includes the talents of Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, and Lil’ Kim, to name a few.

Today, Jazzy Jeff is still setting the bar as a major producer and DJ. He says most major cities have a great music history, but maintains that his hometown is like no other.

“Philadelphia is just a little bit special — a little more soul and a little bit more oomph than other cities,” he says.
