1 Dead In Delaware House Fire

IRON HILL, Del. (AP) – An early morning house fire has killed a man near Iron Hill.

Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Alan Brown says the fire was reported about 6 a.m. in the 300 block of Welsh Tract Road.

When firefighters arrived, heavy fire was coming from the two-story residence. It took firefighters nearly an hour to bring the blaze under control. Firefighters found the man dead inside the home.

Brown says the victim’s body has been turned over to the state medical examiner’s office to determine his identity and cause of death.

The man’s death marks Delaware’s first fire fatality of the year.
