Teen Shot In Center City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting in Center City that hospitalized a teenager.

According to police, a 14-year-old boy was shot in the upper thigh at 16th and Chestnut streets just after 6 p.m.

A merchant sprang into action, to save the life of the victim.

Ralph Duluc, the manager of the nearby H&M store had to act quickly, after the victim staggered into his store.

"When I came upon the situation, I asked what happened. Once I found out he got shot I asked where it was he got shot. It was in the leg," he said. "It seemed like a bad area of the leg, so I got a belt out of our store and applied some pressure over it, just to kind of stop the bleeding."

The teen was taken to Hahnemann Hospital, with what police describe as non-life threatening injuries. Police were questioning a suspect, but there's no word on whether any charges were filed. Nor is there any information on what led to the shooting.
