Free Spay and Neuter For Pit Bulls And Pit Bull Mixes

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) launched "The Sarge Fund" in 2010 to celebrate and serve Philadelphia's pit bull population, promoting a lifetime of health, companionship, and responsible pet ownership. It's very own namesake, Sarge is a sweet 16 year-old pit bull, now a therapy dog, who was rescued in 2008 from an animal cruelty case in Philadelphia and is now enjoying a second chance at a happy life.

Currently PAWS, with support from the Sarge Fund, is offering FREE spay/neuter surgeries for all pit bulls and pit bull mixes for a limited time only. The free service will include a pre-operative exam, surgery, one year of vaccinations, a microchip, and post-operative pain medication (if needed). All surgeries are performed at the PAWS Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic located at 2900 Grays Ferry Avenue in Philadelphia. For more information on the Fund or to schedule an appointment, call PAWS at (215) ) 298-9680 or go to www.phillypaws.org.
