MILFORD, Del. (CBS) – A Delaware State Trooper suffered minor injuries after losing control of his cruiser on ice and crashing into a bridge support early Tuesday morning.
The accident happened at about 4:40 a.m. as the trooper was traveling northbound on SR 1 crossing the William Roth Bridge in Milford, Delaware.
Due to black ice on the bridge, the cruiser began to rotate counter clockwise and the trooper then lost control of the cruiser. The car struck a bridge abutment and then continued across a grassy median into the southbound lanes of travel.
The trooper, a three-year veteran, was taken to Milford Memorial Hospital for minor injuries and was later released.
