Family Offers Big Reward For Washington Bigwig's Killer

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) - The family of former presidential adviser John Wheeler is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in his murder.

Wheeler (above) was last seen in surveillance footage at a parking garage in Wilmington, Del. in late December (see related story), two days before his body was found among trash being dumped at a Delaware landfill (see related story).

The Delaware medical examiner says Wheeler was assaulted and died from blunt force trauma (see related story).

But no suspects have been identified, and police have said little else about their investigation.

John Wheeler III was a US Army captain in the Vietnam War, and led the committee that built the memorial to veterans of that conflict on the National Mall in Washington, DC (see related story).

Reported by Ian Bush, KYW Newsradio 1060.
