Gaming Board Blames Foxwoods Investors For Failed Casino Project

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) - Citing violations of board orders and a failure to maintain financial suitability, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has issued the official explanation for its decision to revoke the Foxwoods casino license in Philadelphia.

The gaming board voted more than a month ago to revoke the license for the Foxwoods project, but has remained silent pending the release of its official rationale, known as an "adjudication." In that document, the board members cite the fact that the investors in the Foxwoods project have been unable to break ground, and that four years after winning a license, their best efforts have produced a proposal vastly different that what was approved.

The board says the investors blame countless villains for the situation but instead should look in the mirror. The Foxwoods investors have appealed the license revocation to Commonwealth Court.
