PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Khalif Wyatt (above) scored 17 points, dished out six assists, and had six rebounds to lead the Temple Owls over Charlotte, 76-67, on Wednesday night.
It was Wyatt’s fourth start in place of Juan Fernandez, who sat out with a bruised left knee.
Lavoy Allen added 15 points and 11 rebounds, Ramone Moore had 16 points, and Scootie Randall chipped in 14 for the Owls, who are now 14-5 on the season and 4-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference play.
Temple led 30-23 at halftime as seven of its eight players who saw action scored in the first half.
Charlotte (9-11, 1-5) cut it to 34-30, but the Owls responded with a 16-6 run, including 11 unanswered points. Allen’s layup put Temple ahead 47-32 with 12:59 to play.
Chris Braswell and Derrio Green scored 15 points each as the 49ers also had four players in double figures. Jamar Briscoe added 14 and KJ Sherrill 12 for Charlotte, which lost its third straight.
