Mayor Nutter Launches Volunteer Impact Challenge On The Web

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - There's a new web site that will help people find volunteer opportunities in Philadelphia.

The city launched Mayor Michael Nutter's Volunteer Impact Challenge at the Free Library of Philadelphia on Saturday.

Catie Wolfgang, the mayor's chief service officer, says they're also kicking off a new web site, http://volunteer.phila.gov/#s:

"Our tagline for this initiative is to match your passion with action and what we'd like to do is really call people to act. The mayor has put out his top 10 volunteer priorities. They're all listed on the web site along with links of where you can go to figure out how to get involved in ways that line up with that."

Wolfgang says the goal is to make it easier for folks to volunteer:

"Prior to this web site being up I think what made it complicated is that people wanted to serve but they didn't know where to go to find the information so now everyone can go to one place and get the information that they need and want."
