PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Restaurant aficionados are going to get a treat this week and next in Philadelphia. It is Center City Restaurant Week and more than a hundred restaurants are offering dinner or lunch specials to entice patrons to try something new.
Restaurant Week means foodies are going to have a field day trying out new entrees at local eateries for lunch and dinner. Participating restaurants are offering a 3-course lunch for $20 and a three course dinner for $35. Ellen Yin, owner of Fork on Market Street, calls it a patrons paradise. “People love Restaurant Week and our job is to try to convert people who have never been to Fork into regular customers,” Yin said. “From a business perspective, we love Restaurant Week. It’s a lot of work.”
The idea was put together a number of years ago by the Center City District, Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau and other agencies including the Philadelphia Parking Authority. The parking authority plans on giving patrons a break this week too. You can get discounted parking at certain garages in Center City if you show a voucher from a participating restaurant from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
