Gardening Lessons Of A Sort

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Even if you never grow anything from seeds, you can learn a lot about plants by helping out at the Hardy Plant Society Seed Exchange Workshops. There, as smart gardeners sit and sort the donated seeds from chaff, they chat and share all kinds of garden secrets, ideas and information. Listen and learn about new plant varieties, special plant sources and nurseries you may never have heard of before. Or speak up, maybe somebody can tell you why that plant in your garden never blooms or gets berries or whatever else it's supposed to do.

You don't need any experience – just be willing to help sort, clean, and pack seeds on upcoming Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays, now into February at The Henry Foundation in Gladwyne, PA. Sessions run from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm, but don't worry if you're late or can't stay the whole time – come when you can, lend a hand, and learn a little from the friendly folks at the Hardy Plant Society.
