Residents Can Still Register Community Service Projects For MLK Day

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It’s not too late to register a community service project for Monday’s Martin Luther King Day of Service.

75,000 volunteers will be involved in 1200 community workshops around the region Monday during the 16th annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service.

The main project will be at Girard College in North Philadelphia where–among a number of projects–the city will launch a massive initiative to promote digital inclusion.

Todd Bernstein is Founder and Director of the Day of Service, and he says it’s all about people helping people. “There are a lot of people in Philadelphia who don’t have any ability to connect to the Internet. We’ll be refurbishing 100 computers at Girard College, assembling 2000 digital access kits, doing workshops.”

To register a community service project, go to mlkdayofservice.org.
