Police Investigate Kensington Death

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police sources tell KYW Newsradio that a woman found dead inside a vacant home in the Kensington section of Philadelphia is NOT believed to be a victim of the so-called "Kensington Strangler."

They say the 20-year-old woman -- whose identity is known by police but was not immediately released -- was the victim of an apparent drug overdose.

The woman's body was discovered about 11 AM today in an abandoned home in the 1900 block of East Sterner Street in Kensington.

The body was found in the target area where the so-called "Kensington Strangler" -- a serial killer tied to three murders at the end of last year -- had been operating (see previous stories).

A special task force put together to hunt down and capture him responded to investigate the discovery, but evidence at the scene does not suggest she was a victim of the killer.

Investigators say preliminary evidence at the scene indicates the woman may have been the victim of a drug overdose. An autopsy has been ordered to confirm a cause of death.
