La Salle Falls To Richmond

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Kevin Anderson scored 27 points and Justin Harper got a double-double as Richmond defeated La Salle 87-68 on Saturday.

Harper had 25 points and 10 rebounds, and Dan Geriot added 13 points for the Spiders (13-4, 2-0 Atlantic 10), who won their second game in a row.

It remained close for the first 30 minutes, but the Spiders broke a tie with a 22-2 run for a 79-59 lead after two free throws by Anderson with 4:02 to play.

Richmond shot 61.3 percent (19 of 31) from the field in the second half while La Salle shot only 35.3 percent (12 for 34) in the final 20 minutes and 34.3 percent for the game (23 of 67).

The Spiders made 47.8 percent of their 3-point attempts (11 of 23).

Cole Stefan led La Salle (7-9, 0-2) with 15 points, Earl Pettus had 12 points and Tyreek Duren 10. Jerrell Williams scored eight points to surpass the 1,000-point milestone for his career.
