New Year's Resolutions: New Year, Same Resolution

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The end of December is the time for New Year's resolutions. But many people say their New Year's resolutions aren't new.

One woman says, "I guess everybody says like 'oh I want to lose weight,' 'oh I want to quit smoking,' 'I want to stop drinking' but essentially you're always gonna gain and lose at some point but you just accept that these are things that are a part of your life and just be happy with it."

Why do they make them year after year?

One man says, "Because I think you need to have a goal in your head even if it's like a small goal like quitting a bad habit or something I think it's good to have something in your psyche and then you work towards that."

So what are their 2011 New Year's resolutions? One man says, "Well, smoking's the big one every year, so we'll see if I can get it done."

Perhaps one reason people make the same resolution over and over, is they simply forget. Like this woman, who says, "It depends what the resolution is and I think throughout the year you go back to it and think about like, oh yeah, this is what I wanted to do!"
