Coffee For Mummers

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Center City coffee house is raising money for the Mummers.

Not too far from the parade route, Spruce Street Espresso at 11th and Spruce Streets will close at 4pm today so they can prepare food and other things. The staff will reopen at 10 pm and stay open through the night and into new years day until 7 pm.

Betty Ortiz, owner of Spruce Street Espresso, says, "About 10% of all the proceeds will go to the Mummers.  And we will be giving 25% off on all coffee beverages to the Mummers. I'm also serving coffee to the police because they have been so wonderful to us. Any uniformed officer can come in for coffee so they can stay warm for free."

Betty says its the end of the year and she wanted to give back to the community. And she says the Mummers organization is well deserving.

"The resiliency of their existence is what amazes me. And they never give up."
