Woman Reports Being Choked, Raped In Kensington

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A woman in Kensington reports she was choked into unconsciousness and police are investigating to see if there's a link to a serial murderer in the area.

Philadelphia police say the attack happened sometime Wednesday night and the victim contacted them Thursday morning when she regained consciousness. The woman told police she found herself only partially clothed and suspected she had been raped.

According to police, the woman reports she had gone with her attacker to an abandoned house on Orleans Street, near Kensington Avenue, at about 8:30 p.m. and that he choked her after they got there.

Police are investigating to determine whether the woman was raped and whether the incident may be related to the series of strangulations that has claimed three lives in the last two months.

Police say the woman described her attacker as a husky Hispanic male, which does not fit the description other women attacked in the area have given.
