Pa. Man Arrested In Theft From Boy’s Casket

PITTSBURGH (AP) — State police have arrested a western Pennsylvania man who allegedly stole a hand-held video game system and accessories—from the casket of a teen killed in a sport-utility vehicle crash on Christmas Day.

State police in Indiana, Pa. say they got an anonymous tip that enabled them to find and arrest 37-year-old Jody Lynn Bennett, of Mentcle, about 1 p.m. Wednesday.

He was jailed unable to post $15,000 bond after his arraignment on charges including theft, abuse of a corpse, and intentional desecration of a venerated object.

Police say Bennett grabbed the items from the casket of 17-year-old Bradley McCombs during a viewing Monday night at the Rairigh Funeral Home in Montgomery Township. That’s about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

Bennett’s mother, Sharon, says her son has a drug problem and she apologized for his actions.

@bottomline: You’re an idiot and an a$$hole with no compassion. And you feel you can criticize others? Get a life, get real, and get some help. Ya MORON!!

My kids aren’t pushing up flowers, stealing or doing drugs. I wonder what kind of language you use to get your kids to eat their spinach.

The message is lost on you professional bleeding hearts. The massage is – mind your own business and take care of your own children. Inventing the washing machine was a big mistake, it gave you busy bodies too much free time to criticize others.

No matter who called who and when, you can’t get any lower than stealing from a csket. Drug problem aside what would make someone stoop so low as to do such a thing, especially just after Christmas. I feel for the boys parents after such a dreadful tragedy as their son’s death on Christmas day.

Thank you W.P.B. I’m glad someone other than myself feel that it’s about as low as you can get to steal from a casket. It was also very disgusting that the reporter called when he/she did. Heartless.

Why is a reporter calling the home “hours” before the son’s funeral? That is a disgrace in itself.

  • IMHO

Well the “journalist” calling the mom a few hours before her son’s funeral seeking a comment, figured out how to go lower.

  • JustMe

Not sure how much lower you can get than this. Shame. A pitiful shame.
