PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A former cleaning woman from East Goshen in Chester County will spend at least sixteen months behind bars after being sentenced on theft and receiving stolen property charges for “cleaning out” some of her Main Line clients.
Montgomery County Judge Steven O’Neill sentenced Kimberly Williams to 16 to 46 months in the county prison. The 45-year-old woman was convicted in October of stealing gold coins and jewelry from several families and a sports memorabilia collection from a mentally disabled man dying of cancer. She claimed he had given her the collection as a gift. She later sold it at auction.
Prosecutor Bradford Richman says the jail time will be followed by 15 years probation, “it reflects what the judge said in his remarks that she needs to be supervised. This is not a woman who has a high likelihood of rehabilitation. She’s a thief, and she’s a liar.”
Williams’ twin sister Melina Hickman says family and friends believe Kim was under a lot of mental, emotional and physical abuse at the time from her husband causing her to make bad decisions.
During the trial, she tried to pin the thefts on her estranged husband; a cop in Delaware County. He was never charged.
