PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - One of the things that we do not do very well in medicine is take care of the caregivers. Think about it. When someone has a medical condition we use all of our combined efforts to reach out and help them with medical advice and medications or procedures coordinated by primary care doctors and specialists but then we send them home, often without support for the support system.
If there is any good news with all of the health care changes we are seeing, there appears to be an emphasis on continuity of care and support from home health care services. This can be a crucial step to help those who provide care to get guidance and an occasional break.
