SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. (CBS) - The first major snowstorm of the season may have been a nuisance for many people but it’s big business for others.
It was an early morning for the plow drivers. In many cases they were behind the wheel of their trucks in the wee hours of the morning making sure the roads and parking lots were clear for drivers and shoppers.
Steve Appenzeller was plowing a Southampton parking lot for Jim’s Tree Service of Bristol. He says this type of storm makes the plowing a little easier but it is still tough work. “The drier and the colder the better. It’s easier to move but the wet and heavy stuff is a little more complicated,” said Appenzeller.
He says they have multiple crews out clearing several parking lots in the area. The plowing is side work for him as it puts a little extra cash in his pocket during the holiday season.
