Outage Totals Rise In New Castle County

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Strong wind gusts following a snowstorm led to thousands of customers without power in northern Delaware and northeastern Maryland, but many customers have now had their power restored.

Delmarva Power had a total of almost 8,000 customers without electricity in Cecil County, Md., and New Castle County, Del., on Monday morning, but by evening the numbers had dropped to about 200 customers in Cecil County and 1,100 without power in New Castle County.

Delmarva Power spokeswoman Bridget Shelton says crews will continue working though the night, and most power should be restored by Monday evening. Isolated outages may continue into Tuesday morning.
