WILMINGTON (AP) – Police in Delaware say they have arrested a woman for attempting to shoplift over $600 in merchandise from a Kmart in Wilmington.
Delaware police arrested 41-year-old Annette T. Shadding of Wilmington on Friday morning. According to police store security observed her stuffing toys, clothing and kids shoes into a bag she had brought with her. Shadding initially cooperated with store security when confronted. When a Delaware State Police trooper arrived, however, Shadding allegedly grabbed her purse from the trooper, punched and kicked him and also bit him.
Shadding is being held on $1,500 bond. A second, unidentified woman was with Shadding when she allegedly did the shoplifting and appears to have been serving as a lookout. Anyone with information can call Delaware State Police at (302) 633-5000.

The Economy’s been bad for years. Those on the lower rungs of society seem bent toward giving in to temptation. There’s not enough gainful employment to go around, so some folks steal to feed nasty habits. That’s my take on the matter.

Shoplifting. With everything else going-on in the Metro area shoplifting seems quaint. It’s the Economy, people. It is dreadful and folks are desperate and they do dreadful, desperate and petty things.
May heaven help us. May we help each other.
