Montgomery County Teen Reunites With Birth Mother For Christmas

LANDSDALE, N.J. (CBS) - "This is definitely one of the most memorable Christmases I will have," Taylor Cockenberg said.

18-year-old Taylor Cockenberg is about to have one of those once in a lifetime moments.

He is going meet his biological mother for the first time.

When he was just an infant, his then 19-year-old single mom decided her baby would have a better life with another family.

Taylor's adoptive parents Donna and Curtis Cockenberg told him at an early age about his biological mother Heather Powell.

They were there inside their Lansdale home just a few weeks ago when Taylor for the first time talked to her over the phone.

"He got to hear her voice and the smile on his face told me we did the right thing," said Curtis Cockenberg.

"Took weight off my shoulder just knowing she wants to meet me, and I am willing to meet her," said Taylor Cockenberg.

Powell now lives outside Dallas Texas with her husband and two children.

"It's exciting. I am a little nervous, and I am generally happy he is excited as well," Heather Powell said.

Taylor, an inspiring musician, isn't making the trip to Dallas alone.

He's going with his adoptive parents and sister.

"I am very happy. I kind of feel like she is going to be an extension of our family," Donna Cockenberg said.

Taylor and family leave on Monday making this a Christmas they will never forget.
