‘Dralion’ Premieres At The Liacouras Center
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Cirque Du Soleil arrives at the Liacouras Center with 14 performances of their show “Dralion,” through January 2nd.
Julie Desmarais with Cirque du Soleil says, “Dralion brings harmony between the elements of earth, air, fire and water. It’s also the mixture of ancient acrobatic Chinese art with the avant-garde style of Cirque du Soleil.”
Listen to Hadas’ interview with Julie Desmarais:
What does Dralion mean?
“It’s the mix of dragon and lion. Dragon will represent the east and lion the west.”
Desmarais says if you come to see the show it’s certainly a treat. “The artists are defying gravity!”
The show even crafted a special stage to fit the Liacouras Center. “The stage is a brand new stage. It has been adapted to the arena. It all sticks together with magnets. You have a 26-foot-high wall where we climb on it and we jump off it.”
Desmarais says Dralion is its own traveling village, “We travel with 18 trucks on the road plus one truck for our catering department.”
What’s her favorite part about the show?
“The trampoline act is absolutely amazing, hoop diving is not to be missed, but the entire show, it’s just incredible.”
