'Guardian Angels' Volunteer To Protect Kensington In The Wake Of Murders

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The search for a murderer in Kensington continues around the clock. A group of Guardian Angels will be on the streets beginning tomorrow to hopefully help answer the prayers of fearful residents.

The Guardian Angels have been around for more than 30 years, and their founder Curtis Sliwa says they were created for situations like this.

"A lot of women out there are in need of escorts. The police have neither the time nor the personnel to do that, but we certainly do. And that's where we think we can make our best contribution."

Sliwa says there's no greater feeling than walking someone safely from point A to point B.

"We dare to care. We'll risk life and limb for people we don't even know."

Sliwa also hopes the Angels' presence will help loosen tongues.

"Maybe the ability to act as a third party -- get the information, channel it to the investigators, detectives and police -- might end up bagging and tagging the Kensington Strangler."
