Woman Found Stabbed To Death In Delaware County Home

CHESTER (CBS) -- Police are asking for the public's assistance locating a man who's considered a person of interest in the stabbing death of a Chester woman.

"It's a shame. I feel sorry for her daughter, to walk in on that," Valerie Burks, a neighbor said.

Neighbors say the victim's 14-year-old daughter found her mother's bloodied body. Police responded to the 911 call around 4:30 Saturday afternoon. The victim lived on the 300 block of West 22nd street.

"Upon the officer's arrival, they located a female in the upstairs bedroom," Major Joseph Bail with the Chester Police Dept said.

Family members identified the victim as 45-year-old Darlene Montgomery. Police say she was found stuffed under a bed with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sources told Eyewitness News, Montgomery lived with her 14-year-old daughter and a friend, 49-year-old Tyrone Blake, who police consider a person of interest.

Major Bail explained, "We believe he was at this house earlier today."

According to sources, when the victim's daughter came home, she saw Blake inside pacing nervously. When the daughter made the gruesome discovery, Blake was gone.

"He just helped me the other day get a jump on my car," Burks added.

Neighbors say Blake seemed nice but court records show he's been in and out of jail since 1978. Most recently, he served time for aggravated assault and was released from jail in July.

Police say the motive remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Chester Police Detective Pat Mullen at (610) 447-8124 or Detective William Cordon at (610) 891-3700.
