Young Girl Fatally Shot In Chester County
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -A family in Chester County is mourning after their 11-year-old daughter was shot and killed upon returning home from school on December 10.
Neighbors said the victim's brother shot her at their home on the 500 block of Coventry Lane in Westtown Township where police responded to a reported shooting at about 3:30 p.m.
The young girl, who was a 6th grade student at Stetson Middle School, was rushed to Chester County hospital and was pronounced dead a short time after arrival. Neighbors say that the brother also attends Stetson Middle School, and he and his family are staying out of town. Meanwhile, friends and neighbors believe this was a tragic accident and they are planning to have a candlelight vigil on the victim's lawn.
The victim and her family's name have not been released. The shooting is still under investigation.
