PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia tourism officials say Army/Navy weekend is expected to give the local economy a $35 million boost.

The Philadelphia Sports Congress, a division of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau says 50,000 visitors are here filling hotel rooms. Area shops and restaurants expected to do brisk business.

Navy football player Wyatt Middleton is originally from the Atlanta area. He says he’ll be spending time with family members in town after the game:

“I have a lot of family coming up both my sisters are coming up, my mom and dad, and I have a lot of aunts and uncle coming unfortunately my brother wont be able to make it; he plays for the Jacksonville Jags. I’ll get some downtown with them.”

Next year the Army/Navy game will be played in Washington then it’s back to Philadelphia in 2012 and 2013.
