Woman Charged In Murder Of Acquaintance In Gloucester County

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A 39-year-old acquaintance has been charged with the murder of a 54-year-old man in his Gloucester County apartment early Monday morning.

Lori Hummel had known Thomas Carbin for a few years, well enough he let her in for several hours before she allegedly took a sharp object to the man's neck, according to Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton.

"The defendant then took various gift cards, an undisclosed amount of money and personal belongings from Mr. Carbin. She was later seen shopping at a local store."

Hours after Dalton says Hummel abandoned Carbin's pickup truck outside the Ironworkers Union hall where Carbin was a member.

Carbin's family got the news of Hummel's arrest just hours before a memorial service was set to start. The victim's brother says it won't bring Carbin back, but it will make things a little easier.

Hummel, who resides in Gloucester, is held on $750,000 bail and charged with murder.
