MONTGOMERY COUNTY (CBS) – A one-of-a-kind art show featuring works from the Beatles opens today at the Montgomery Mall in North Wales, coinciding with the day that John Lennon was killed 30 years ago in New York City.

The show is billed as a celebration of Lennon’s life and brings to Montgomery County a visual history of the Fab Four featuring rare artwork created by Lennon, McCartney, Starr and Harrison along with other fine art and animations. Show curator Scott Segelbaum says it shows another side of the Beatles that many people may not be familiar with.

Segelbaum says, “Paul McCartney does more in terms of these beautiful oil paintings and Ringo has like fun whimsical things on computer, so it’s interesting to see how their artwork has all changed.”

John Lennon, he says, had formal art training. The show runs through Christmas Eve on the mall’s first level. You can just admire the artwork or you can even buy something for that special Beatles fan on your holiday gift list.
