LANSDALE , PA (CBS) – Tree growers have been experimenting with new types of Christmas trees and some new ones are starting to hit the markets.
Most people buy Douglas firs or Frazier firs for their holiday trees but there may be new favorites coming on the horizon. Jay Bustard, partner at Bustard’s Christmas Trees in Lansdale, has been experimenting with 22 different types of trees and has come up with two potential Christmas tree favorites:
“One is a Nordman fir which is great for people who have glass ornaments or vintage ornaments because the branches are so stiff. The other one is a Korean fir. It looks similar to a Frazier fir but the needles on the bottom side are kind of silvery white and it has a really nice aroma.”
Bustard says the new trees are in very limited supply now but could become favorites in about five years.
