Man Sentenced For Rape Of Young Girl In Kensington

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Philadelphia man who previously pleaded guilty to raping a young girl and assaulting a teenager tried to withdraw that plea, but a judge would have none of it, and sentenced him to a lengthy prison term Tuesday.

The case had attracted national attention when he was cornered and beaten by neighbors in June of 2009, just before his arrest.

After a lengthy hearing that included victim impact testimony, 27-year-old Jose Carrasquillo was given an opportunity to address the court.

Instead of apologizing for the pain he had caused, since he previously admitted to raping an 11-year-old girl and groping a 16-year-old, he suddenly claimed he was "framed," "innocent," and would pass, as he put it, a "polyster-graph test."

Later, his defense lawyer corrected him that it was a polygraph, or a lie detector test.

Judge Ramy Djerassi denied his request to withdraw his guilty plea, and sentenced Carrasquillo to 30 to 66 years in prison.

The victim's father said his little girl was getting therapy, and trying to cope.

"You'll never have to worry about turning the corner and he's standing there."
