(CBS) – Make it two in a row for the Boy Wizard but not by much.

The blockbuster sequel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, earned an estimated $50 million and finished in first place at the box office for a second straight weekend. However, the debuting animated attraction Tangled, was a very close second with a robust $49 million.

The three other new mainstream releases also finished in the top ten.

Burlesque, the debuting musical drama with Cher and Christina Aguilera, was fourth with $12 million.  The comedy-drama Love & Other Drugs with Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway was sixth with $10 million. The new action thriller Faster, starring Dwayne ‘The-Rock-No-More’ Johnson, took in $9 million which was good for seventh.

Overall it was a healthy Thanksgiving weekend with industry totals at about the same impressive level as the counterpart weekend last year.
