Explorers Return From Cancun To Take On Del. State

PHILADELPHIA-- La Salle University is the only city basketball team in action on Monday night.  The Explorers are hosting Delaware State after splitting two games at the Cancun Challenge--a win over Providence and a loss at the hands of #11 Missouri.

Head Coach Dr. John Giannini was pretty happy with what he got out of his squad down there.

"We played three out of four good halves and we played well against Providence and jumped out to a big lead in that game and then withstood a run in the second-half to win by double-digits," says Giannini. "And we were tied at the half against a very good Missouri team and took a brief lead in the second half but they are awfully good and I think we wore down a little bit."

The Explorers were 4-2 heading into Monday night's game. Coach Giannini says the Hornets are tough.

"It's a very good program," he says. "They were 11-5 in their conference (MEAC) last year. Their coach does a great job; they are very disciplined."
