Mom Charged With Leaving Kids Alone, Using Drugs

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- New Castle County Police have charged a 25-year-old Wilmington area woman with leaving her two young children unattended while using drugs.

Officers were called 25-year-old Amanda Hill's home in the Mill Creek Village Apartments on Tuesday after her 6-year-old son called his grandmother and said Hill kept falling down and falling asleep.

Police say Hill met a friend and smoked a PCP-laced cigarette while her sons, ages 6 and 1, were alone in the apartment.

The Division of Family Services took custody of the children and placed them with a family member.

Hill has been charged with endangering the welfare of her two children and a drug violation. She released on $1,500 unsecured bond and ordered to have no contact with the children.
